I myself don’t believe in god so much. I guess I used to, but thoughts kinda sapped that.
What I don’t like about religion is the whole "faith" thing. In the majority of religions a few rules are laid out, a book or two about it, the benefits and such. But in order for you to be "protected" (benefit) by that deity, you need to follow these rules, and absolutely have "faith" in that deity. You cannot question it, doubt it, or think otherwise, because you will then be accused of "not really believing" or something similar. "Faith". Even without any proof, you are expected to believe. If the bible said that on January 1 2009, the earth will crumble and be sucked into a black hole, I bet if you look out the window you might see people running around screaming, panicking, dreading "the end". Because they completely believe it. But there was no proof, was there? Just being written in the bible isn’t proof enough. Just "having faith" doesn’t make things happen, or not happen. If you pray to be wealthy, you could coincidentally find a winning lotto ticket on the sidewalk, nothing might happen, or you’d get a "maybe later" answer from "god". "Yes, no, Maybe later" isn’t good enough.
Well, sorry for the ranting and such. Will you tell me your opinion?

But, just to be clear, I meant about religion. Not about people who do or do not follow it, the religion (or god) itself. Although I’ll respect your beliefs, whether you agree or disagree with what I wrote.
I know the bible wouldn’t say something like that.
It was just an example that came into my head.
The bible would never be so specific.
To IKE: I wouldn’t really call myself an atheist, although that might suit me more, but I ask about these things because I’m bored. Because tv sucks, myspace is horrible, aim is just annoying, and twitter makes me puke. So, I have nothing better to do that ask questions online. This one, being about religion. I never talk about it so much though.
(I just noticed this, but when people ask about religion, a lot of people answer. Only about 2 people answered when I asked about smiling. Haha.)

I dislike it when people think that religion is a series of rules to be followed rather than a method to know God and experience a community of faith and love. It’s as if religion were designed to be a sex-obsessed institution, all about where the different parts of the body go and when.
I don’t really think that’s what it’s all about. Loving one’s neighbor as one’s self is a bit broader than that, and bit less hateful.

Religions have nothing to do with gods.
Men invented religions and blamed them on gods to make people follow them. No gods had anything to do with creating or inspiring religions.
I dislike all religions equally.
As for gods. I don’t know yet.
It is nice to see someone that has all the answers. I am now going to throw my Bible out the window.
I just can’t stand intolerance, is all. I’m a Christian, but I don’t hate on ANYBODY. Period. I look around and all I see of Christianity is the hatred being spouted by extreme fundamentalists. Why, just this afternoon, my campus got a visit from Westboro Baptist Church, my nemesis! I just wish that people would learn by now, that whether you believe in a religion or not, hatred is not the answer. Never has been, never will be. The best we can do is enjoy life and strive to bring happiness to everybody around us.
the thing about if the Bible stated there would be a black hole on jan 1 09 or something…. first of all, the Bible would’nt say something like that. Every word in the Bible is meaningful and is there for a purpose. And the thing about praying to be wealthy, God isn’t a bank who you go to when you don’t have money and what not. Also, He knows what’s right for us, if something doesn’t happen, its not because he didnt answer your prayer, its because he knows its not in His plan for you or maybe because its just not the right time. Things don’t happen on your time, they happen on His time.

I have nothing to dislike about God or religion in general, except the guilt that i feel every time I know I’ve done something against it.
i just believe we should believe whatever works for us(just as long as its not harmful in anyway)i cant say i believe in any god but i do believe that maybe,just maybe there is "something" to me the universe being created by a "big bang" makes just as much sense as the bible,no proof. but im not here to criticize anyone’s beliefs. believe that the universe was created by chipmunks for all i care.
What I don’t like about Atheists is if they don’t believe in God, and are opposed to religion then why are they/you, so obsessed with something that shouldn’t have anything to do with you/them? From what I have learned about Atheists is they are just as intolerant and dogmatic as the religious people they claim to oppose. Also, why do Atheists always attack Christians and Muslims? I have never seen an Atheists rant, belittle or flat out insult a person of the Jewish faith, are you afraid to? Fear of ADL??? Lawsuit??? LOL, So much hypocrisy so little time.
Matthew, Mark, Luke & John in the bible are written by the very namesakes and those books are accounts of these four men walking and talking and eating and living with Jesus! How much more proof do you need! Many prophetic utterances in the old testament have already come to pass. You must not be reading or interpreting what you read correctly if you dont’ understand that from your Bible.
You can not see the wind, but you know it’s there! The same with God. You can not see him but you know he is there when you see the things in creation that could not be created by the hands of man, (i.e., moon, stars, sun, massive oceans, etc.)
Intellect will always intefere with spirituality. Faith is not a thing, it is real. I was molested as a child, discarded by my parents & siblings at different points in my life, the victim of a massive fire that destroyed my whole house (twice), etc. By Faith I was restored. I stood and look at my whole house burned to the ground and I said Lord you will restore. Everyday I believed, trusted and did not doubt. I had not clothes but the clothes that were on my back. I was in my last year of college and all my books had burned up.
Well, one week after the fire I received $2,000 from co-workers who were secretly collecting for me. A week after that a college friend who had another friend with a vacant apartment in a real nice neighborhood got me that apartment for $500 off the asking rent price. A week after that someone gave me a whole new warbdrobe adn lots of jewelry (she new how much I loved fashion and jewelry and how much of a loss those things were to me). All 3 of my university professors passed me without taking the final exam!!! I went to an elite college and this is unheard of!!!
You see where I’m going with this. By FAITH all these things happened to me. NO doing of my own. There is a superior force at work in the universe. His name is God!

Note: I don’t just want to give an example that deals with "things" because living for God and having Faith is not so I can get things. I want PEACE, SAFETY, JOY, ASSURANCE, QUIETNESS and I have those things which are most important in life. I just gave that example because it just popped in my head as I was typing.
